Alessandra Steinherr picks her 5 favourite new beauty products of the week

The Glossary’s Contributing Beauty Director reveals her must-haves, from Pat McGrath’s new mascara to a revamped cult classic serum

As part of my weekly column I choose five different beauty products to share with you every week, ranging from my favourite new skincare saviours, ultimate make-up must-haves, hair care heroes and body boosters, through to the freshest scents of the season. I get to test every single new beauty product before it hits the stores, so I truly appreciate the life-changing power of a great one. Here are the new releases that I’m most excited about this week.

Cartier

Les Épures de Parfum, £250 each

I’m a big fan of both Cartier jewellery and their fragrances, and this new trio of perfumes designed by perfumer Mathilde Laurent are my current spritz’s of choice. Each one focuses on a key ingredient, making them ideal for layering. Pur Muguet centres around the delicately floral scent of lily of the valley; Pur Kinkan has more of a crisp, citrusy vibe, with kumquat its main ingredient; while Pur Magnolia encapsulates the flower in bloom. Fresh, light and joyful, they’re perfect for summer.

La Mer

The Concentrate, £165 for 15ml

La Mer’s iconic and much-loved skin soother has had an upgrade and it’s absolutely beautiful. The barrier-building serum is now enriched with lime tea concentrate, which boosts protection against environmental aggressors like pollution, working alongside La Mer’s proprietary Concentrated Miracle Broth and nutrient-rich sea kelp to make this cult elixir a go-to for calming sun-exposed, irritated and dry skin.

Pat McGrath

Dark Star Volumising Mascara, £26

Meet my latest lash obsession. I am very demanding when it comes to mascaras – I can tell in one swipe whether I will love or hate it, and I love this one. This is the second mascara in McGrath’s range and while its predecessor FetishEyes offers customisable coverage and length, Dark Star is all about volume – think big, curled up, fluttery lashes. The gel-hybrid formula is very buildable and doesn’t go flakey, and the deep black pigment doesn’t fade. A total winner.

Nars

Orgasm Quad Eyeshadow, £41

This limited-edition eyeshadow palette offers such pretty shades, perfect for balmy summer days here or on holiday. The shimmery golden pinky champagne hues layer effortlessly and enhance all eye and skin-tones. I’ll wear them as a sheer wash over the top lid for a quick, fresh daytime look or blend a few shades together for a more pulled together low-key sunset smokey eye in the evening.

Goldfaden MD

Doctor’s Body Scrub, £65

If you’re looking for the ultimate summer body smoother, this is it. The exfoliating, polishing scrub – part of the brand’s new Body Collection – is a true multi-tasker. While micro-fine ruby crystals thoroughly, but gently, slough away all those dead cells, dirt and other debris, fruity enzymes from grapefruit, pineapple and lemon combine with red algae and bamboo extract to nourish and hydrate, leaving skin soft and supple.
