As Dior goes on tour with a series of pop-up boutiques around Europe to showcase the new capsule beachwear collection for Autumn/Winter 2019, Dioriviera, we discover the inspiration behind the designs.
Holiday souvenirs get a seriously chic makeover this summer with the expansion of Dior’s capsule collection, Dioriviera, and its accompanying tour at some of Europe’s most fabulous resorts. Following on from the launch of the fashion house’s beachwear range in Mykonos last year, the newly expanded line will be showcased at a series of dedicated pop-up stores in Porto Cervo, Forte dei Marmi, Mykonos and Ibiza, and in seaside boutiques worldwide including Saint Tropez, Puerto Banús, Capri and Portofino.
Maria Grazia Chiuri’s designs, inspired by the costumes of the Ballet Russes, capture the spirit of summer in an unapologetic celebration of beauty, leisure and the art of farniente. Toile du Jouy bikinis, bucket hats and mules sit alongside nautical Breton stripes, all in a curated palette of dusty pink, khaki green, bright red and dark blue that slips seamlessly into a holiday wardrobe.
T-shirts and swimsuits emblazoned with a declaration of love for the places where they are sold, and the Dior Book Tote bag and woven bracelets bearing the name of their locale make mementos to lust over long after the season comes to a close.
