No matter the lockdown circumstances, the advent of spring is an annual prompt to refresh our wardrobe, and what better way to do so than with 2021’s most talked-about new releases? From limited edition collaborations, like The North Face x Gucci and Kitri x Jessie Bush, as well as a new handbag by Dior and a capsule collection from Matches Fashion, there’s plenty to choose from. Here, are the new fashion launches to invest in now.
The Swedish artist returns for a second collaboration with Louis Vuitton — a playful, bold collection of sportswear, shoes, small leather goods, and several special-edition bags that feature Urs Fischer’s reimaging of the label’s iconic monogram. The new design sees Fischer’s hand-drawn, enlarged reinterpretation of the monogram’s flowers and LV initials, which he calls “memory drawings,” stretched across the collection’s white and black or red and black pieces. The collaboration also features a number of animated characters created by the artist, which appear as prop pieces in the campaign.
The latest shoulder bag release from the iconic French fashion house is a timeless design. Handmade in the Italian ateliers, the Caro bag is crafted from the softest leather in the house’s signature cannage pattern, with the CD logo and an interchangeable metal and leather chain strap. Produced in two sizes, the Caro bag is available in a variety of colours, from the classic shades of blue, grey and black to more statement options, including the Tie & Dye print featured in the 2021 cruise collection.
Puffer coats are undoubtedly the must-have item of the season, but it’s the selection from The North Face x Gucci collaboration that the fashion set are craving. Infused with Alessandro Michele’s love for Seventies style, the highly anticipated collection is a logo lover’s dream. From the “GG”-embossed duvet coats to the floral print vests, the collaboration is a blending of The North Face’s archival, performance-driven designs, Gucci’s maximalist style and the two brands’ commitment to sustainability, with the collection’s accessories mostly made using Econyl®, a nylon fabric made from regenerated materials.

This season, Matches Fashion is setting out to solve the problem of finding an everyday uniform with its launch of Matches Wardrobe Foundations, a curated edit of staple pieces from established and emerging designers. Featuring over 250 pieces across 12 different categories of womenswear, the edit makes it easier than ever to find the best of the classics, whether it’s the white t-shirt, the trench coat or the slip dress, and build a complete wardrobe of essentials. With designers ranging from Burberry to Toteme, the emphasis on building an everyday uniform also embraces a more sustainable approach, prioritising investing in long-lasting classics instead of trend-based pieces.
Since its founding in 2017, Haeni Kim’s womenswear brand Kitri has frequently had long waitlists for its monthly drops of limited edition pieces. The latest collaboration with longtime Kitri fan and model Jessie Bush, better known on Instagram as @WeThePeopleStyle, is likely to be the line’s most coveted. Offering a capsule collection of printed dresses, brightly coloured sweats and tie-dye spring knitwear, the collaboration is a joyful blend of Kitri’s feel-good hero pieces with Bush’s streetstyle aesthetic.
