This year’s Golden Globes’ virtual red carpet showed how quickly the A-list have learnt the tricks of the digital ceremony trade. From pre-show Instagram posts to video call-style shots of awards contenders, actresses delivered a dose of much-needed glamour at the 78th Golden Globes. While the fashion was undoubtedly in full force, it was the stand-out jewellery that truly upped the ante this year, with Cartier emeralds, Tiffany diamonds and Dior sapphires just some of the gems spotted on the virtual red carpet and via Zoom. Here, we’ve rounded up the most dazzling jewellery moments from this year’s Golden Globes.Â
At the first major event of award ceremony season, this year’s Golden Globe nominees decided to embrace the idea of ‘the bigger the better’ with their styling, creating a moment of escapism that many of us were hungry for, and that the world’s most prestigious jewellery houses were more than happy to oblige.Â
Cartier was one of the favourites this year, with a host of British actresses opting for their dramatic pieces. Styled by Harry Lambert, The Crown’s Emma Corrin, who won the award for Best Actress in a Drama TV Series for her portrayal of Princess Diana, took inspiration from a Pierrot clown for her look, donning a custom Miu Miu gown with an oversized ruffled collar. But the jewellery was undoubtedly regal — a set of drop earrings and impressive ring featuring emeralds and diamonds set in platinum. Meanwhile Vanessa Kirby, nominated for her powerful role in Pieces of a Woman, opted for Cartier earrings and a ring with rubies surrounded by diamonds, as well as a Reflection de Cartier ring. The Dig star Carey Mulligan was also bejeweled by the house, wearing Art Deco-inspired diamond earrings and rings with her blush Prada gown.Â

Diamonds were the gem du jour across the board, ranging from the delicate Tiffany & Co white diamond necklace and matching earrings worn by Queen’s Gambit actress Anya Taylor-Joy with her custom metallic green Dior gown, to the chunky diamond-studded chain necklace, earrings and bracelet by Pomellato worn by Viola Davis. Andra Day, who won Best Actress award for her turn as Billie Holiday in The United States vs. Billie Holiday, did the glamorous singer proud with multiple Chanel Fine Jewellery diamond pieces, including ear cuffs, a wraparound bracelet and five different rings. Meanwhile Olivia Coleman opted for diamonds by Messika, pairing statement Love Knot earrings and a dramatic Bague Desert Bloom Marquise ring with her suit.

Alongside the glittering diamonds was a dash of colour thanks to the likes of Gillian Anderson modelling the diamond and onyx Rose Dior Pré Catelan ring, and diamond, yellow sapphire and onyx Rose Dior Pré Catelan earrings by Dior Joaillerie. Jane Fonda also opted for a shot of colour to complement her vintage ivory cream suit, donning La Gioia di Pomellato earrings and ring with rubellite and brown diamonds. From the minimalist to the over-the-top, these stars didn’t shy away from true Hollywood glamour with these gem-laden pieces that are sure to inspire the next wave of black tie dressing.Â
