As part of my new weekly column I will be choosing five different beauty products to share with you every week, ranging from my favourite new skincare saviours, ultimate make-up must-haves, hair care heroes and body boosters, through to the freshest scents of the season. I get to test every single new beauty product before it hits the stores, so I truly appreciate the life-changing power of a great one. Here are the new releases that I’m most excited about this week.
Kate Somerville DeliKate Recovery Collection, from £30
Suffering from lockdown skin? External and internal stressors, misuse of active skincare products or an overzealous use of cleansing and massage tools can leave skin weakened, inflamed and reactive. Enter this fantastic trio of instant skin-soothers by LA skin guru Kate Somerville aimed at sensitive skin which calm, rebuild and protect a compromised skin barrier with a cocktail of peptides, omegas and ceramides. The collection – comprising of a cleanser, serum and cream – is designed to work together or individually to soothe any stressed-out skin woes.
Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Azur, Eau de Toilette, 50ml, £44
This week’s overcast weather is making me crave warmth and sunshine more than ever, and this soft, citrusy scent offers a sophisticated take on a summer fragrance by being at once fresh, thanks to notes of Italian Bergamot, Neroli Bigarade and Orange Flower, and warm, with a creamy base of coconut milk and musk. While we might not be able to make it to the Côte d’Azur anytime soon, this zingy fragrance will transport you back to your favourite beach memory.
Guerlain Terracotta Nude & Matte Bronzing Powders, £38
No one creates bronzers quite as beautifully as Guerlain. Their Terracotta range remains the original and the best, and this summer’s new offerings are two Bronzing Powders which do not disappoint. The first is called Nude, which has a beautiful sheer glow, rather than a full on sparkle, and adapts to any skin tone to smooth and illuminate. The other is Matte, which is available in three shades (light, medium and deep) – perfect for sculpting, enhancing or even creating bone structure.
Drunk Elephant Sili Body Lotion, £17
A super nourishing yet lightweight formula, this body lotion — part of Drunk Elephant’s first foray into body-care — makes for the ideal daily post-shower hydrator to reinvigorate dull and dry skin. Ingredients-wise it rivals face-care formulations – the super blend of fruit-derived antioxidants, amino acids and ceramides support healthy skin function by locking in moisture and offering a powerful defence against pollutants in the air. My skin feels much smoother after application and the lotion is fast-absorbed so you can get dressed straightway. The subtle scent of almond marzipan is surprisingly comforting too.
Biossance Vegan Rose Lip Balm, £16
Call off the search – this may just be the perfect lip balm. Biossance – one of my favourite brands from the US – launched into the UK earlier this year at Cult Beauty, and this week they’ve released a brilliant new lip treatment. At the heart of their entire range, including this balm, is sustainably sourced squalane – my go-to skincare hero. The ultra-moisturising, petroleum-free formula glides on without any stickiness and leaves behind a long-lasting, pretty sheen. I’ve been using the balm for the past week – my lips feel so soft, plumped and flake-free.
