London’s best hair salons to book now for a post-lockdown refresh in April

These are The Glossary’s recommended Covid-safe salons to book into for a much-needed hair transformation from April 12th

During Lockdown 3.0, there are many things we’ve been dreaming of – with booking a much-needed appointment at the hair salon at the top of the list. Grey hairs, split ends and at-home dye jobs have left us all in need of expert attention ahead of seeing our friends, family and work colleagues. Here is a guide to London’s best hair salons to support now and book that coveted appointment for April.

The lifting of restrictions, means that on Monday 12th April, the beauty industry is expected to reopen, alongside outdoor dining and non-essential shops. All hairdressers must comply with the government’s strict coronavirus restrictions, which means maintaining social distancing of at least one metre between each customer, with salons operating between 50% and 75% capacity, and staff wearing full PPE, including visors. Clients, meanwhile, will be required to wear face masks, either disposable ones provided by the salon or your own brought from home, and salon chair catch-ups will be kept to a minimum.

Many of London’s leading hair salons are likely to have their first slots snapped up following up on the announcement of the roadmap for leaving lockdown. Get ahead of the game with our round-up of our favourite London hair salons to support now by booking an appointment for April.

Part cocktail bar, part salon, this revolutionary beauty spot turned heads when it opened in the heart of Soho three years ago, creating a social hub – complete with full bar – where clients could come to hang out as well as get a great cut or blow dry. On reopening, founder Ricky Walters reveals: “Where many brands are taking away offerings for clients, we’re thinking of innovative ways they can enjoy the same sense of luxury service. Clients are craving nothing but a good time, so we’ll have the champagne flowing, with a few small changes to ensure we are Covid-19 safe.” That includes serving their own-brand coffee in reusable ‘keep me’ cups and cocktails in biodegradable disposable glasses, as well as putting up screens between chairs and asking clients to wear eco-friendly single use gowns.

And they’re just as committed to maintaining their fun atmosphere, as co-founder Anita Rice shares: “We’re keen to keep the experiential side of the salon alive, so we’ve created an outdoor waiting room at our Walthamstow salon in the style of a tiki bar, complete with local beers, wines and cocktails in cans.”
