The move into ‘lockdown lite’ with the reopening of outdoor dining, gyms, non-essential retail and beauty salons has brought us some much needed normalcy. While many will undoubtedly be heading back to favourite-go to spots around the capital, there are also a number of exciting new beauty salons and wellness openings that are worth a visit. From Dr Barbara Sturm’s new Mayfair flagship spa and boutique, to Soulcycle’s outdoor spin classes at Selfridges, these are the new wellness and beauty openings and pop-up events to check out over the coming weeks.
The German beauty entrepreneur and skincare specialist’s Düsseldorf clinic has long been a go-to destination for the A-list for non-surgical treatments and the famous ‘vampire facial.’ Now, Dr Barbara Sturm is bringing her beloved products and treatments to her first London boutique. One of our favourite London wellness brands has opened its third London outpost (it also has a store in Chiltern Street in Marylebone and a space in Liberty) on Islington’s Upper Street. Anatomé’s soothing, minimally styled Pharmacy-style store is as relaxing as the oils it sells. Founded in 2018 by Brendan Murdock, Anatomé products use botanical essential oils to target specific health and wellbeing needs, and the new location reflects their combination of scientific technology with apothecary roots. From sleep aid lavender oils, to hormonal support supplements, to illuminating avocado face oil, the Anatomē shop has everything you need to help refocus on self-care in the post-lockdown world.

While gyms are now opened up again, classes won’t return until mid-May. Luckily, Selfridges is stepping in for those craving a spin class. As part of its reopening, the Oxford Street flagship is teaming up with spin studio powerhouse Soulcycle to turn the back of the shop into an outdoor studio. The popular Soulcycle instructions will run daily cycling classes in the outdoor space which is covered to guard against the elements, but open-sided to comply with all Covid-related regulations. Booking for the signature 45 minute outdoor classes – which have already proved immensely popular in the US – will open a week in advance.
