While fans of The Traitors are gripped by the plot twists and compelling storylines, the fashion set has found a new reason to watch the show: Claudia Winkleman’s outfits. Gone are the sparkly sequins we’re so used to seeing her wear for Strictly Come Dancing, replaced instead with luxe designer knitwear, tweed blazers and tartan coats. Read on to discover how you can shop her Countrycore wardrobe for yourself.
Everyone’s tuning into the second season of the BBC’s hit show The Traitors right now, and it isn’t just to find out who’s been banished. Fashion devotees are searching for Claudia Winkleman’s Traitors outfits, which are the perfect blend of winter-ready high-fashion and Scottish chic. Or to put it as Winkleman herself described it: “a mixture of Ronnie Corbett, Princess Anne and Madonna in her Lady of the Manor Guy Ritchie era”. The looks have all been created by fashion stylist Sinead McKeefry, who has worked with the prime-time TV presenter for many years and is responsible for this season’s most unlikely style icon.
When it comes to Winkleman’s looks, the emphasis is firmly on British labels. Last season she was spotted in pieces from Barbour, Self-Portrait and Church’s, while this season McKeefry’s favoured pieces by Holland Cooper, Brora and Bella Freud, with a spot of Saint Laurent thrown in for good measure. The reference point for the looks was Amanda Harlech, Karl Lagerfeld’s long-time aristocratic muse, who’s known for epitomising upper class rural elegance.
Perhaps the most-talked about item of all is the khaki green cable-knit jumper Winkleman wore in episode two, which featured smiley faces on the elbows. The jumper is from Kapital, a men’s brand stocked in Liberty, and instantly went viral, selling out almost immediately. Second hand versions are now selling on eBay for almost double the price. Other standout pieces from the show include a floor-length tartan Holland Cooper coat, a black velvet Saint Laurent blazer and a black cape coat from sustainable London-based label Luxury Family Affair.
It isn’t all about high-end labels, though. Winkleman likes to mix the high and the low in her outfits, which means you can expect pieces from high street-adjacent brands including a Self-Portrait blouse (which she teamed with that Saint Laurent jacket), Commando leggings and a tweed blazer from The Kooples. Most of her Traitors outfits are then topped off by her trusty black Dr Martens boots or a pair of Hunter wellies. Get the look with our edit of Winkleman’s best fashion pieces from The Traitors.
