New Designer It Bags 2024
Louis Vuitton Atlantis
First released in 2016, this reimagining of Louis Vuitton’s popular Atlantis bag is set to be one this season’s most coveted new designer handbags. Sleek and slouchy, the stylish yet functional tote bag is pleasingly versatile, switching easily from a two-handled carry to a statement-making shoulder bag through an adjustable and removable strap. Available in classic Monogram, as well as the caramel-hued Reverse Monogram and the Dune Monogram in a rosy beige, expect to see the Atlantis everywhere this spring.
Gucci Jackie Notte
The fashion world has been on tenterhooks waiting for Sabato de Sarno’s first ever handbag for Gucci, and now that it’s arrived it doesn’t disappoint. The Jackie Notte is an updated version of the house’s much-loved Jackie 1961, the favoured style of Jackie Kennedy (hence why the bag was named after her), and has been described as “a sexy take on an archival icon”. Already spotted on Dakota Johnson and Daisy Edgar Jones, the Gucci Jackie Notte is destined to be one of this season’s must-have It bags – if only so you can get your hands on a piece of fashion history.
Fendi Flip
This clever design from Fendi is one of the most innovative new It bags for SS24. As the name suggests, the colour-blocking bag transforms from a contemporary shopper to a streamlined clutch just by “flipping” from one side to another. The playful design embodies Fendi’s fun and creative spirit, with the flip unveiling a different colour on each side. Worn on-the-shoulder when used as a shopper or under-the-arm when folded as a clutch, it comes in an array of seasonal colour combinations, including gianduia brown, bright red and dusty blue, and classic black, white and warm brown.
Stella McCartney x Veuve Clicquot
The ever-pioneering Stella McCartney has teamed up with Veuve Clicquot to create a grape-based alternative to animal leather, which has been used in the brand’s latest designer handbag. The next-gen leather alternative, VEGEA, is made of 80% vegetal, renewable and recycled raw elements – all byproducts from the Veuve Clicquot champagne harvest – and has been used to craft a capsule of accessories for SS24. The standout piece is a reimagining of the label’s iconic Frayme bag, which features a woven basket-style design topped off by a luggage tag shaped like a bunch of grapes.
Prada Buckle
For their SS24 fashion campaign, Prada decided to move away from fleeting trends to celebrate a more timeless era of fashion. The same could be said for their new designer handbag of the season, the Buckle, which embodies the brand’s pragmatic yet sophisticated stylistic codes. The bag’s distinguishing feature is its unique belt and buckle detail, where hand-sewn handles make it possible to remove the belt and swap it out for a different design, meaning the bag can be customised in myriad ways. With its clean lines and refined details, it’s set to be one of the stand-out new It bags of the season.
Celine Victoire
Presented for the first time in October 2023 as part of the maison’s ‘Tomboy’ collection, Celine’s new Victoire bag was designed to take you seamlessly from day to night. Modelled with insouciant cool by Edie Campbell in the campaign shots, the bag’s sliding chain means it can be worn multiple ways: crossbody, long on the shoulder or as a ‘pochette’ for the evening. With two compartments, one zipped pocket and one patched pocket, it’s surprisingly roomy and comes in a range of colourways, from classic black leather and Triomphe canvas to shearling and leopard print.
Loewe Pebble
Loewe’s chic Pebble tote first debuted on the runway of its SS24 collection. The minimalistic design comes in a streamlined miniature size, while the slim, detachable strap means it can also be worn crossbody. Topped off with distinctive Anagram-engraved hardware, it’s sized to hold all the essentials and comes in a variety of different colourways, from the more traditional black, oak and dark burgundy to zesty vivid orange and sunflower-yellow.
