The year is 2024 and leopard print is back with a bang, once again the animal print of choice for top fashion designers and influencers alike. But then, did it ever really go away? Leopard print has long been hailed as a staple in the wardrobes of the sartorially savvy, with some even regarding it as a neutral. But if in the past it’s been used to subtly jazz up an outfit in the form of a bag or shoe, this season leopard print is the main event, used in coats and floor-length dresses for a statement-making, head-to-toe look.
Versace SS24
The current leopard print trend taps into another recent fashion craze, the Mob Wife Aesthetic, where more is definitely more. Over the decades, leopard print has been worn by everyone from Jackie Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn to Kate Moss, but for 2024 it’s all about pushing the boundaries. Gone are Moss’s low-key ‘90s looks, which teamed a single splash of leopard print with pared-back separates, replaced instead with slinky leopard print maxi dresses and dramatic coats.
Nina Ricci SS24
To really take the look to the next level, why not try doubling or tripling up on the print? Dior followed this approach for AW23 when they paired a leopard print midi skirt with a matching sweater vest and cardigan, while Celine sent models down the runway in matching leopard print jackets and mini skirts for SS24. Here’s our edit of the best leopard print pieces to invest in this season.
