As wedding season approaches, all thoughts turn to the latest bridal collections from the world’s leading fashion designers. Sartorially savvy brides have long eschewed more traditional bridal gowns in favour of those created by the top names in fashion. From the timeless elegance of Erderm’s designs and Molly Goddard’s tulle creations to the vintage-inspired debut bridal collection from Annie’s Ibiza, there’s a style of wedding dress to suit every bride’s taste. Here, we’ve rounded up the best new bridal collections to have on your radar this season.
New Bridal Collections
Molly Goddard Bridal Collections
Originally launched in 2020, Molly Goddard’s new bridal collections are some of the most sought-after for fashion-forward brides. Hardly surprising, really, when you think about how popular the London-based designer’s tulle creations have become since they first burst onto the scene in 2014.
Goddard’s wedding dresses have been worn by the likes of Agyness Deyn and Margaret Qualley, and new for this season she’s added four new styles to her bridal offering. Named March, April, May and June, each one highlights the label’s use of craftmanship, particularly when it comes to working with tulle. Alongside this the brand will be restocking their sold-out Saturnia dress, with all wedding dresses available in a range of inclusive sizing from UK 6 – UK 20.Â
Annie’s Ibiza Bridal Collection
The Annie’s Ibiza boutique in Soho has long been the place style-savvy Londoners – including Kate Moss, Rita Ora and Adwoa Aboah – head for their vintage gowns and one-off party pieces. Now it’s also set to be where they’ll go for head-turning wedding dresses, as designer Annie Doble has just launched her first ever bridal collection.
The 30-piece collection includes a range of vintage-inspired gowns that feature intricate thread work, structured corsetry and beaded embroidery. But the standout look has to be their sheer cobweb gown – recently worn by Dakota Johnson on the red carpet for her latest film – which has been embellished with glass beads to create the effect of dew drops.Â
Self-Portrait Bridal
If you’re looking for something a little different for your big day, make a beeline for Self-Portrait’s eclectic bridal collection. The London-based label’s effortlessly cool offerings aren’t your average taffeta bridal gowns – instead, you can expect everything from rhinestone-encrusted minis and feather-trimmed dresses to sleek jumpsuits.
Standout designs for this season include a 3D flower lace midi dress, a metallic bouclé blazer dress and a showstopping floor-length gown covered in hundreds of rhinestones, the perfect post-ceremony party dress.Â
Erdem White Collection
Erdem Moralioglu is best known for his ethereal eveningwear, and his bridal collections are just as exquisite. The latest instalment of the brand’s ready-to-wear White Collection features delicately embroidered organza bridal gowns adorned with 3D cutwork flowers, glittering sequinned column dresses and an elegant cloqué coat dress that’s perfect for winter weddings.
The bridal collection also features a range of accessories, including polka dot veils, crystal headbands and satin flower necklaces, all of which can be admired in the brand’s flagship Mayfair store.Â
Vivienne Westwood Bridal Collections
Vivienne Westwood famously made her own wedding dress in 1962 and her eponymous label has continued the tradition with its couture and made-to-order bespoke bridal services. This year’s collection takes inspiration from real life love stories, reflecting both a traditional and changing social landscape.Â
Westwood’s trademark corseting, voluminous skirts and distinct drapery are visible throughout the line, along with more experimental cuts. The pieces are all designed, sampled and hand-crafted locally in England, continuing Westwood’s lifelong legacy of environmental activism and creating timeless clothing that can be worn for generations.Â
Galvan White Collection
Minimalist brides have long favoured Galvan’s slinky creations, which offer up a streamlined, pared-back take on the traditional wedding gown. The brand is best known for its silk slip dresses, which fit like a dream, but their latest collection also has plenty of more outside-the-box options to choose from.
Highlights for Spring/Summer 2024 include a cutaway gown decorated with beadwork and fringing – tapping into this season’s Cowboycore aesthetic – a satin blazer dress with padded power shoulders and a boho-style backless embroidered lace gown that would be perfect for an Ibizan beach ceremony.
Oscar de la Renta Bridal
For fairytale bridal gowns brought to life, look no further than Oscar de la Renta. The Spring/Summer 2024 bridal collection is a celebration of embroidered elegance, with lace and intricate detailing taking centre stage.
One design features delicate petals sewn onto ethereal tulle, while another includes hand-embroidered floral trellis appliqués on a classic trumpet gown. But the real showstopper is reserved for the final look: a strapless gown with a full skirt made up of hundreds of laser cut roses, which took 463 hours to create. The result is pure magic.Â
Viktor & Rolf Mariage
Maximalist brides are well catered for in Viktor & Rolf’s latest Mariage collection, which is just as gloriously over-the-top as you’d expect from the Dutch couturiers. Their signature sculptural designs are highlighted with surreal embroideries and fairytale flowers, while gowns are embellished with dreamy bows and frosted pearls.
For the first time, a sheer illusion bodice has been introduced into the collection, adorned with 3D organza flowers in full bloom. You’ll also spot the signature Viktor & Rolf bows, which originated from their Haute Fantaisie couture collection, cascading down tulle skirts, adding the final flourish to these whimsical creations.Â
